Follow the open studio art trail along the south coast of Kent, from Dover, through Folkestone, Hythe, then Romney Marsh, before crossing the border into East Sussex and onwards to Hastings. Come and discover what artists do all day in their studios.
You can also download a larger version of this trail to print here.
If you are planning a visit by public transport, Southeastern rail services run in to Folkestone and Dover stations, while the Stagecoach 101/102 bus runs from Dover, through Folkestone, Hythe, Dymchurch to New Romney, and the 101 runs onwards through Lydd, before heading to Rye and Hastings.
For the region-wide open studios event, nearly 300 artists have been busy getting their studios and workshops ready to give you that unique experience: not only will you see a wealth of creative talent, but you will also meet the artist or maker in person, and many of them will be demonstrating during the event. They will be glad to talk about their materials, techniques and philosophy.
Entry to venues will be FREE. There will be items for sale but there is no obligation to buy. However if you do make a purchase, you will have the satisfaction of buying directly from the artist.
Use your South East Open Studios Guide to discover who is taking part this year, what you can see and when the studios are open. Entries can also be found on our website (http://www.seos-art.org/)where you can search for venues within a postcode area or by artist’s name and download a street map for each studio. You can also download our popular Studio Trails.
Although the ability to take credit cards is becoming more widespread, you will visit studios that will not be able to accept cards, so don’t forget your cheque book and some cash in case you find yourself tempted.
We hope you enjoy South East Open Studios 2014
